Can I use Fitzroy Paddock with my XL Bully?
With changes coming into place as we start 2024, pet owners are pondering a crucial question: βCan I utilise a private dog field with my XL Bully or other restricted breeds?β At Fitzroy Paddock, we extend a warm welcome to dogs of all kinds, recognising the significance of providing every pup with an opportunity to unwind. However, aligning with regulatory frameworks from The UK Government and our insurers is imperative for businesses like ours.
Outlined below are the latest guidelines for accessing Fitzroy Paddock if you are a proud owner of a restricted or banned breed, including the XL Bully.
Rules for Owners of XL Bully Type Dogs Utilising Our Private Dog Field (and other banned breeds).
Banned/Restricted Breeds Compliance: Owners of banned or restricted breeds, such as the XL Bully, must adhere to all regulations stipulated by DEFRA and any government appointed bodies concerning the ownership and management of such breeds on the day they use our facility. There may also be additional rules to follow put in place by our insurers.
Specific Requirements Include (Updated 05.01.24):
Handler-to-Dog Ratio: If the household has more than 1 dog, they can come to the field together as long as they have a minimum of 1 handler. All dogs leads and muzzles can be removed once in the field including the XL Bully/banned breed. If there are dogs from different households, any XL Bully or banned breed will need to remain muzzled and on a lead at all times with their 1:1 handler.
Field Sharing: Shared use of the field with other dogs is permissible if they are from the same household and subject to the points in item 1. If you are mixing dogs from different households, this is only permitted if the dogs are acquainted, amicable, and devoid of aggression history. When mixing households any XL Bully or banned breed must remain muzzled and on a lead at all times.
Muzzle Protocol: Upon entry and exit, a muzzle must be worn, and it can only be removed after all gates are securely closed/locked. The muzzle must be reinstated before opening the gates when departing. See also notes in point 1. & 2.
Lead Usage: Use leads upon entry and exit until inside the main field with gates securely closed/locked; reverse this process when leaving. See also notes in point 1. & 2.
Registration and Paperwork: Registration of the dog on the IED and email us a copy of the relevant paperwork before your visit..
Insurance Obligation: Owners must possess correct public liability insurance and email us a copy before your visit.
Neutering and Microchipping: Dogs must be neutered and microchipped in line with Govt rules.
Secure Gates: Ensure gates are securely closed and locked during field use.
Additional Compliance: Agree to adhere to any supplementary rules mandated by our insurers or any reasonable requests from Fitzroy Paddock, its representatives, or insurers in case of an incident.
General Terms and Conditions: Comply with all our usual terms and conditions governing field use.
You must email us with a proof of your IED & Insurance paperwork after booking and before first attendance.
